Awesome Things

1. I can eat a full meal complete with appetizer, bread, and entree for almost nothing. My current record is $0.60 for a huge portion of fried rice. A few days ago I ordered 3 entrees for 4 bucks and each one was pretty massive and delicious.

2. I live in an apartment that costs 4,000 Rs / day ($80) which for India is pretty expensive. The apartment has some pretty cool things about it including a queen size bed, tv in each room, large living room with two couches, a balcony in my room and the living room, a guy who comes and cleans everyday and drops off bottled water. In addition he does my laundry for me each day. Of course I have to carefully place what I want him to wash in a specialized bin (anywhere on my bedroom floor) first.

3. There are 26 people in my class (including me) and I have gotten a pretty good opportunity to know them by now. This includes people from 4 different countries (Australia, US, India, and China). They are without exception extremely smart and I have had conversations about all types of things with them. They are just as curious about things in the US as I am about how things are in their native country. The Chinese guys and gals cooked some food for us the other day and it was amazing! It was pretty funny to see some of the people try and learn to use chopstiscks too :p. At the end of the day we are here to learn but this is also a great opportunity to start networking with people in the company. The founder of our company stated that his main goal for ThoughtWorks University is for us to have fun, and while we have lots to do and learn I would definitely say I've been having a great time.
